About · Krishna Peri

Curious by default. Calm under pressure.

I got into UX because I liked the puzzle of why people do what they do, not just what they click. Eight years in, the pull is still the same: turning messy, high-stakes problems into something that feels obvious in hindsight.

How I work

Five things I believe about design.

01

Evidence beats opinion.

The loudest voice in the room is rarely the most right one. I would rather ship a decision backed by what users actually did than one backed by who argued hardest.

02

Simple is a moving target.

In enterprise software, simple is not fewer features; it is the right ones surfaced at the right moment. What felt clean at launch has to be re-earned every quarter.

03

The hardest problem is what not to automate.

With GenAI, the interesting design work is not making the machine do more. It is deciding where a human still needs the keys, and making that handoff feel deliberate.

04

Design systems are org design.

A component library is the easy part. The real work is the shared language and decisions that let separate teams move fast without drifting apart.

05

Ship the thing. Then ship the better thing.

Perfect is a story you tell yourself to avoid feedback. I would rather put something real in front of people and let the next version be smarter for it.

The work

Eight years, four industries.

Most recently I led UX research at Fidelity Investments, setting design strategy for a platform modernization used by more than 200,000 people. Before that I led research for an autonomous retail IoT platform at Vontier, designed B2B dealership tools at Ford, and worked on mission-critical scheduling systems at Amtrak.

I hold an M.S. in Information Science and Human-Computer Interaction from the University of North Texas, and I am just as comfortable running a research workshop as I am pushing pixels in Figma.

Teaching

I teach what I learn.

Some of the work I am proudest of never shipped as a product. Running Connect Week sessions, mentoring interns, and founding a cross-company UX guild taught me that the fastest way to raise the bar is to hand other people the tools to raise it themselves.

Off the clock · Brazilian jiu jitsu

Calm under pressure, on the mat.

I train at Brazilian Top Team in Dallas under Professor Leonardo Machado, where I currently hold a purple belt. It is the same discipline that carries into my research: staying calm under pressure, and trusting the process even when the outcome is not obvious yet.

Off the clock · Music

A decade behind a guitar.

I have played guitar for over a decade, writing and performing across a handful of bands and genres, from heavy metal to melodic alternative rock, and recording and releasing multiple EPs, albums, and singles along the way.
